Diamox (acetazolamide) is a sulpha drug used for the treatment of glaucoma, epilepsy and fluid retention caused by the use of drugs or congestive heart failure. In some cases doctors prescribe this medicine for the relief of mountain sickness symptoms. Diamox side effects can include diarrhea, tingling in feet and hands, vomiting, ringing in the ears, loss of appetite, urinating more often. If these side effects persist or are bothersome consult your doctor. You should be very careful about combining high doses or aspirin with this drug as this may result in symptoms ranging from loss of appetite, sluggishness and rapid breathing to death.

Very rarely Diamox can cause the following severe reactions: sore throat, bruises, fever. If you get any of the symptoms mentioned above contact your doctor right away. You mustn’t take two tablets of Diamox at one time. If you missed a dose and it is almost time for a new one just skip the missed dose and carry on with your usual schedule. Do not start taking another prescription or over-the-counter medicine without previously checking with your doctor. Some of the drugs can affect the efficiency of Diamox.
